About Crystal Chords harmony chorus

Crystal Chords is proud to have been performing for over 30 years. Some of the founding members are still with the chorus and while we love singing together, that is not all we share.

We regularly enjoy vocal coaching, tours and other social events, including ‘retreat’ weekends away.

We are an award-winning chorus which competes locally, nationally and internationally. What a great (and challenging!) way to gain valuable singing and performance experience. The moments when stage fright turns to smiles are well worthwhile ...

We perform at private and public events and support community groups and charities. This year we are supporting the Motor Neurone Disease Association (Manchester and District Branch) which assists people affected by the disease, their carers, families and friends. Meet the team

Monica – MD of Crystal Chords

monica       monica singing

Monica Funnell was appointed Musical Director in March 2010. She brings a wealth of experience having been involved in barbershop singing since 1984. A high achiever, Monica has previously won gold medals performing in quartets with Peppercorn, Checkmate and Indigo Blue, and with renowned choruses, the White Rosettes and the Cheshire Chord Company. Now a registered judge for the 'singing' category within LABBS (the Ladies Association of Barbershop Singers), she has also been faculty member for both LABBS and BABS organisation for many years.

As well as her glittering achievements, Monica brings to the group an infectious energy and enthusiasm for great music and good singing. Very quickly, she added an array of top harmony arrangements to the mix and her keen ear and skilled teaching has resulted in a warmer, richer and tighter sound.

Crystal Chords are delighted to continue to entertain audiences under her leadership. While the chorus works hard, Monica also makes sure it’s fun!
